Kenya is endowed with a wealth of natural resources and ecosystem, however there are a vast of environmental issues affecting and degrading our environment. here at thinkgreenlivegreen.com I would like to create awareness of environmental issues so as to try and get as many people as possible interested in conserving the environment for a sustainable development.
As Wangari Maathai said in her Nobel peace prize acceptance speech, “Activities that devastate the environment and societies continue unabated. today we are faced with a challenge that calls for our shift in thinking, so that humanity stops threatening its life-support system. We are called to assist the earth, to heal her wounds and in the process heal our own – indeed, to embrace the whole creation in all its diversity, beauty and wonder. this will happen if we see the need to revive our sense of belonging to a larger family of life with which we have shared our evolutionary process“
There is a rapid degradation of natural resources brought about by combinations of various factors such as economic, social, cultural among others. Natural resources are a very integral part of our livelihoods. Initiatives for sustainable management of environmental and natural resources do not receive high priority. There is need to create awareness on the value of the environment in order to enhance individual and corporate responsibility. We use environmental resources for our own needs. As we use environmental resources, we put pressure on the environment causing environmental degradation since as we use the resources we do not take very good care of the environment. I will be writing about the environmental issues common and try and get opinions from you on how we can improve to create a better tomorrow for our children
